New Year’s Eve at Home

I love New Year’s Eve as it rounds out the holiday season and rings in new beginnings. As time has gone and our family has grown, our NYE celebrations have changed year over year. For the past couple of years we have made a tradition of staying in so we can start the year off right with our little ones. But, spending New Year’s Eve at home doesn’t mean the night has to be any less glamorous or filled with sparkle. I am a fan of both a night in wearing my most over the top PJs or dressing it up in a festive mini dress. Either way, adding some sparkle always makes it special.

Comfy Yet Glam

New Year’s Eve always sneaks up on me so I try to gather everything from decor to outfits way in advance. Last year was no different so I made sure to order decorations and outfits for the whole family ahead of time. We opted for a comfy night in and I dressed up my favorite feathered pajamas with heels and my New Years glasses and crown! Although simple, this ended up being one of my favorite nights.

Over The Top

Sometimes I can’t help but go over the top, especially for a holiday that is known for glitter. I love the idea of dressing up and hosting dinner in, but making it an experience. A couple of years ago I wore my favorite glittering gown and added the sweetest touch to the girls’ and my outfits, with this velvet 2021 bow.

Five Ideas to Make NYE At-Home Special

1. Add Decor!

Whether it’s balloons or streamers over the door, your littles will delight in the space feeling festive.

2. Gather Your Dress Up!

We ordered NYE glasses (and in years past have done headbands or bows) but I also just gathered all the capes, tulle, wands and top hats from our dress up basket. Put the kids in pajamas and add this extra layer for less lift post-party. New this year, I got NYE temporary tattoos which are super cute and I know the kids will love.

3. Order In!

We usually get our favorite sushi which gives us more time to spend dancing and enjoying each other. They’re closed on Sundays so stay tuned to see what we pick to ring in 2024. Setting our fancy dining table has been something we’ve loved to do, and we also go around and share highlights from the past year.

4. Set Up Your Polaroid!

My kids love snapping photos and it’s a fun way to see the night through their little eyes.

5. Pick a Fun Playlist!

We always find the best Spotify playlists and blast them through the house, feels like a proper send off.
