How to Dress Up Your Dresser

I must admit, in our current house we never decorated our bedroom. We focused our efforts and budget downstairs, where we spend most of our time living. While in our next home I do hope to have a beautiful bedroom, it makes me chuckle a bit that at age three, Elle is already on her way to her second more-decorated-than-her-parents living space. We were about to do her big girl bedroom and already had plans in place when we found a home we liked and decided to move. That won’t take place until this summer, but some of Elle’s new-room pieces have already started to arrive…and they are amazing. The first, and the subject of today’s post, is a lovely dresser via ducduc.

The Piece Itself: ducduc Dresser

Elle’s room was concepted by Clary Bosbyshell, the designer we’re working with on our next home. I gave her a swatch of floral fabric I liked (that just so happened to be named Eloise) and she went from there. While it’s still in progress due to the evolving target (aka a new house), the room will be a mix of pink with some accents of blue and a nice amount of floral. Choosing furniture that complements the color scheme was obviously top of mind.

One of the first pieces we picked was the dresser. The one that we ordered and that’s featured here is the savannah doublewide ducduc dresser. We customized it, as you’re able to do with all ducudc pieces, by picking hardware (the small cabana ring pull in white) and choosing a color for the drawer-fronts. ducduc is able to color match any Pantone color, and we went with Farrow & Ball’s Lulworth Blue (No. 89).

The piece took about 10 weeks to hand craft, and it was made in a tiny town in northwest Connecticut in ducduc’s 1890’s restored production facility (so cool!). I was impressed to learn that all of the items ducduc produces are eco-friendly and non-toxic, which is ideal considering it’s children’s furniture.

Because of its handmade nature, the dresser was delivered via a white glove service…literally the dresser was driven down from New York. My jaw hit the floor when I realized this! The driver also put the dresser together, which was a nice touch. He was able to show me the lovely features like the self-close drawer glides, which is a feature I love for Elle.

We’re so happy with the dresser itself, and I know it will be put to good use in Elle’s new room. It’s currently in the guest room, and just had its first guests this weekend…they attested to how lovely it is as well.

The Styling Layer

To add a little something extra to the space, I framed an Hermes scarf that I purchased on The Real Real. I opted for a bamboo-style frame, painted white. Of course, coffee table books, flowers and this Aerin Vanity Tray (similar here) are other accents I love.
