While every family brings their own traditions and style to this milestone, the day typically includes a religious ceremony followed by a celebration (and, if you’re lucky, time for an outfit change in between, but don’t count on it).

I’ve included a selection of looks below for both women and girls that feel appropriate for either, or both, parts of the day. In most cases, the invitation will offer guidance on dress code, and it’s always wise to take that cue to heart. That said, in my experience, it’s best to err on the side of modest for the ceremony, given the religious setting, and then lean into something a bit more fun and party-forward for the celebration that follows.
