Although I traded runway shows for the carpool line this year, I kept an eye on my favorite designers to see what their s/s 2027 collections have in store during NYFW 2026. While Magda Butrym’s collection felt the most me (rose petals on the runway, yes please), I found plenty of pieces to be inspired by, along with some very clear common themes emerging across the season as a whole.
NYFW is always a good time to take note of what’s on the horizon, so I’ve expounded on my findings below. Consider this your little preview of what’s coming.
Magda got the memo on my current favorite color palette.
Khaite let textures and shapes do the heavy lifting with a more drawn back color palette. Love the structured peplum on this one.
This print from Altazurra has my attention.
Sheer fabric + this trim detail is perfection.

Texture is doing a lot of the work
This might be one of the clearest takeaways. Rather than relying solely on interesting silhouettes or colors, lace, embroidery, leather, feathers, beading, fringe, and layered materials are drawing the eye in.
Romanticism is here to stay
Designers are playing with femininity, but none of it feels overly sweet. Khaite went full romance with lace, lingerie references, and sheer fabrics; Magda emphasized delicate details; Ulla Johnson used gauzy fabrics and floral embellishment.
Feminine & Masculine Juxtaposition
Tons of NYFW 2026 looks combined masculine and feminine codes: biker jackets and baggy pants alongside lingerie and embellished dresses. Striking the right balance is an art.
Sheer Layers Are In
Many designers seem to be referencing antique lingerie with sheer fabrics, corsetry and lace trim. Altuzarra used lingerie-inspired construction underneath otherwise tailored pieces, and Ulla Johnson made sheer skirts and dresses feel appropriate for daytime.
