Emily in Paris: A Whirlwind Two Days in the Prettiest City

Paris is always a good idea, even if only for 48 hours. I took this age old advice last week and slipped away for a lovely, albeit quick, return to one of my favorite cities. It’s been a few years since my last visit, and I’d missed this endlessly beautiful and inspiring place.

I was in town for a special project, but made the most of my time by staying at my all-time favorite hotel, dining at spots with lovely fare (and champagne), and naturally, making time for some memorable shopping. Quite a lot of it, actually.

Keep scrolling for my Paris favorites: where I dined, where I shopped, what I packed, and a few pieces I wish I’d had room for. À bientôt, Paris.

Seriously obsessed with this outfit. Have been repeating it at home too. It’s just that good.

2 Days in Paris: Where to Stay

Ritz Paris // My all-time favorite place to stay in Paris. It’s truly the most beautiful and special stay in the world!

Hotel Costes // So chic and have heard great things.

Shangri-La // If you’re looking for quintessential Eiffel Tower views, this is your spot.

Relais Christine // If you prefer the Left Bank, this is my rec. Pro tip, book the Garden Suite!

Where to Shop

Rue Saint Honore // A historic shopping street that you must visit. I stopped into Rimowa for an extra suitcase, but would have loved to do some more shopping.

Hermes // I had luck with a leather appointment at the George V location. The most wonderful associates.

Galeries Lafayette // Maybe the most stunning department store there ever was. Holiday shopping here was a dream.

Officine Universelle Buly //  For the iconic customizable lip balms, mirrors, hair brushes, and more. I went to the location in Galeries Lafayette

Chanel // A no-brainer. The Rue Cambon location is just stunning.

Dior // When in Paris!

Le Bon Marche // Another great department store.

Avenue Montaigne // Another shopping street in the 8th arrondissement.

L’île aux Fées // The Charlotte sy Dimby boutique. The sweetest smocked dresses for little girls.

Place Vendome // Where the Ritz is located, it’s also known for some majorly good jewelry shopping!

Where to Dine

Barrone // If you’re looking for classically French fare. So gorgeous inside too!

Le Grande Cafe // Sister restaurant to Lou Lou

L’Avenue // If you want a bistro.

Lou Lou // Went and loved this Paris restaurant for dinner as their outside gardens are closed, but if gardens open would be lovely for lunch too.

Bar Vendome // Inside of the Ritz. Love for lunch or drinks.

Girafe // If it’s warm enough, sit outside. Their garden has the perfect view of the Eiffel Tower.

Cafe de Flore // Basically a landmark at this point. See Elle and I here on my last trip.

Le Voltaire// Traditional french cuisine, short walk over the bridge to the Louvre (perfect for nighttime photos after dinner).

Gigi // Great Italian with an even greater view of the Tower.

What to Wear in Paris

Packing for Paris has a way of feeling intimidating, but the answer is simple: monochromatic dressing. It’s unfussy, confident, and very Paris. This time of year, I favored winter whites by day, with walkable heels and a trusted pair of jeans. And evenings called for a bit more drama (and warmth), so faux-fur jackets did the heavy lifting. Proof that looking polished and staying warm need not be mutually exclusive.
