Big News!

Big News…

Elle’s going to be a big sister! We are so excited to share that Baby Hertz is expected to debut in April 2020.

We shared the news with Elle on my birthday last month at our breakfast pajama party (Michael missed the memo). She knew she was going to get a special present, but wasn’t quite sure what that entailed. When she opened her gift she found a sign that said Big Sister (she can’t read, so we explained what was happening). She also got a new baby doll to help her connect the dots.

While I think Elle was excited, it didn’t really sink in until moments later when we asked if she wanted to find out if she was having a baby brother or a baby sister. This was a surprise for Michael and me too, which made it all the more special. Scroll down to find out what we’re having!

Cutting the Cake to Reveal…

It’s a BOY!!!

I didn’t realize until looking through these photos that Michael wore blue and I wore pink, subconsciously sharing what we thought the baby would be.

A Note About This Post…

As some of you know, it has been a long and emotional road to get here, so while Elle will at times say she wishes that she was going to have a girl baby, we are all over the moon for a baby brother and are praying for a safe remainder of the pregnancy and delivery.

You may be wondering why it took us a while to share (I’m about 20 weeks), and that’s a direct result of our previous miscarriages. It’s been a weird middle ground of excitement mixed with cautious optimism and a lot of scary “what if something happens again” thoughts. Infertility (secondary or otherwise) is such an isolating experience and being one of the lucky ones to come out of it pregnant feels bittersweet. I have so many close friends still walking that path, all of whom were shoulders to cry on and are still my sense of security when I share my fears. I am trying to have a positive mentality and am grateful for all of the support that has been graciously given to me throughout this season of life.
