A Few Porch Pictures and Thoughts on Motherhood

Pausing for a Photo

We’re just coming out of the newborn fog over here and because we haven’t been able to do traditional photos given everything going on at the moment, I arranged for some porch pictures leading up to Mother’s Day. It’s safe to say I love them and all of the creative work-arounds happening at the moment.

Truth be told, it is an interesting time to have a newborn. We waited a long time for our darling boy, so I’m trying to stay grateful and relish the sweet moments. But it’s also hard. Being there for Elle and trying to keep her world semi-consistent when the whole world is anything but is uncharted territory. She’s handling it like a champ and I’m trying to do the same.

For me, doing my hair (typically every other day if I’m being honest) helps. Getting dressed helps. Putting on heels helps. The porch pictures help. Trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for our family is a balancing act…just like motherhood. Some days are better than others, but the good days keep me going.

It’s been encouraging and rewarding to get to connect with other women during this time. Small business owners, mamas from all over the country and friends. We’re finding ways to support one another and are rethinking how to run our companies.

On that note, I am beyond honored to be working with one of those woman-owned small businesses on this post. Sarah Flint is a dynamo who employs a family factory in Italy to make her thoughtfully-designed shoes. Sarah and her team have been supporting women working on the front lines of the Covid pandemic, which is something to be proud of.

The heels I’m wearing in these porch pictures are the recently launched Perfect Block Sandal. They also come in this gorgeous blue and are beyond comfortable…wore them a lot while pregnant. Heels do something for me. This sandal is particular is the perfect way to balance feeling my best without breaking my neck (as Elle frolics on pea gravel). The brand also has options if heels aren’t for you, the sandal comes in three heights (30, 60 and 90mm), all of them equally cute. I want these next in the blue!

If you’re looking for a way to shop small for Mother’s Day, this beautiful scarf they just debuted is a lovely idea. Sarah Flint is kindly offering my readers $100 off your purchase (valid on shoes too!) with code: SARAHFLINT-EMILY100

Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts. Would love to hear yours. xx

Squatting while holding a baby and all of Elle’s weight…the shoes didn’t budge!

Seriously comfortable…even on pea gravel!

This post was sponsored by Sarah Flint, a wonderful small business worth checking out.
