The Bahamas: What to Wear, What to Do

After the holidays wrapped up, we decided to take a family trip to the Bahamas. The kids had a little time left before school started back up and it’s always lovely to have something to look forward to after the excitement of Christmas and Hanukkah drift off. Paradise Island (aptly named) swiftly became one of our favorite little corners of the Bahamas (we usually head to Harbour Island). With its powder white beaches and sweet, nostalgic feeling structures, I would definitely recommend the Ocean Club (a Four Seasons property). It was a short trip, but a perfect one. The service was top notch and we spent days by the pool and beach, followed by dinner at Dune and in the Versailles Gardens, a most special dinner spot. If you’re planning a tropical getaway now or in the future, I put together a curation of my favorite resort-ready outfits for you to shop below.

And if you’re headed to the Ocean Club anytime soon, be sure to scroll to the bottom for some tips.

What to Wear

My favorite beach coverup with some visual interest.

Prettiest linen dress for dinner, and it’s under $100!

Breakfast outfit for those slightly chilly mornings at the beach.

These hand stitched linen dresses from Etsy are a forever favorite of mine – and they come in so many color ways!

The best dress and my beach birkin to match ; )

Pool day! Some of my favorite swim suits this season are from Shani Shemer, sold on Shopbop!

The pièce de résistance! This stunning set from Zimmerman was a head turner.

What to Do

The reason we love the Bahamas is it’s a very short flight from Atlanta. If you’re looking for fine dining and more to do, head to Harbour Island. If you want pure relaxation and a resort feel, Ocean Club was divine. We felt like four days was plenty (particularly since we were with the kids). The service truly was excellent and they have two main pools to choose from (we didn’t go to the third zero entry kiddie pool, but that’s an option too if you have babies). Dinner at the Versailles Gardens was very special, and we would have loved to spend time at the tennis courts, adult pool or gym (next trip, perhaps). We did make it to the spa and it was 10/10. We also did babysitting one night for the Versailles experience which worked well. Dune was a delicious meal and we could have eaten there every night!

Another pro tip: if your kids don’t have global entry (the boys don’t), the MPC app saved us so much time, as you clear customs in Nassau! Traveling with our stroller and this suitcase also are my two non-negotiables. Hope you have a nice trip if you decide to go!
