Five Things to Add to Your Lake Como Itinerary

Lake Como is hands down one of the most beautiful places in the world. I don’t think I realized how simply breathtaking it would be, but as we pulled up to our hotel I was in for a treat. The homes nestled in the mountains that surround the Lake reminded me a bit of Positano, and the majesticness of the waterfront Estates is almost hard to fathom.

We stayed at one of the most beautiful Lake Como Hotels, Villa d’Este, and even if you don’t stay there it’s a must see. The grounds are stunning, their restaurants are the best in Lake Como and the scene can’t be beat. I also got my hair done in their salon and I swear it was like going back in time. Below, five things to add to your Lake Como itinerary!

Visit Villa d’Este – Whether for a meal at the Veranda, a spritz in the pea gravel garden, a walk around the gorgeous mosaic fountain or just for a photo.
Take a Hike – Our hike was with a private guide and it was incredible to see the Lake from a different vantage point. I’d recommend a guide to maximize your time, as we only wanted to hike for a few hours and covered a lot of ground.
Book a Boat Day – We actually went out on the Lake twice, once for a half day and the second time for a cocktail cruise. If both are an option, do both! I also know people who captained their own boats and if you’re confident on the water, that would be fun too!
Explore in Town – The Lake has many towns that surround it, we explored Cernobbio where our hotel was located (high points included a Jacquemus and gelato), but all of the small towns have something special to discover.
Lunch at Passalacqua – We adored popping by and taking in the view from this new spot for lunch, but we also considered staying here as it’s a lovely hotel if you like a bit more of a boutique feeling. Its sister property Hotel Grand Tremezzo is down the Lake and also popular.
