What To Wear To Blackberry Farm
Blackberry Farm in the Great Smoky Mountains is the most magical place on Earth. Just about three hours outside of Atlanta, this heavenly hotel feels more like a luxe trip to a friend’s elegant retreat than a traditional resort as everything is so easy and comfortable, you forget you’re traveling.
Upon pulling up to the white gates, you’ll see the Barn (the fancy dinner restaurant), pastures filled with sheep and horses and the most darling structures, which house various rooms and suites. We always stay in the carriage house which, arguably, has the best views of the Smoky Mountains on property. Each carriage house suite has a main room and a bedroom, perfect for a couple and workable with small children. This room type also comes with a golf cart, the main way of navigating the property, though I believe carts can be borrowed from the front desk regardless of where you stay.
We always start our stay with a family photo session, as it’s a nice way to fill the time between arrival and dinner. Brittany Payne is lovely and is the photographer the hotel will book for you should you want photos! She is also a good guide who can point out all of places worth noting on property.
Dinner is held at The Dogwood (a bit more casual and the restaurant that allows children) or The Barn (jackets required for men, and a bit more dressed up for women). I always bring a range of dresses, but something about long dresses on the farm speaks to me. You’ll see people wearing any and everything, especially dependent on the weather (it ranged from 20 to 75 degrees when we were there!).
Breakfast and lunch are at the Dogwood, and again you’ll see it all. Some people are in workout clothes, some are dressed for the day and others are ready to enjoy the outdoors.
The various activities such as horseback riding, farm tours and seasonal events are also come-as-you-are (and of course, I am a bit on the overdressed side). We love exploring, and usually keep the kids with us, though their Camp Blackberry is fun too. Elle did that last time we went (pre-Covid). There are also two pools. The family pool wasn’t open when we went but the adults-only pool was, and it’s heated!
