Silhouettes I Come Back to As Someone Obsessed with Style

A current favorite combo that I keep coming back to!

Lately, it feels like the phrase personal style has been used so often that it’s started to lose a bit of its meaning. If you ask me, personal style isn’t found on Pinterest or through your Instagram algorithm; it’s built slowly over time.

It comes from noticing the pieces, colors, textures, and silhouettes you’re drawn to again and again – even as trends come and go. Those little preferences may seem insignificant on their own, but together they become a blueprint. And eventually, if you pay attention long enough, your personal style starts to reveal itself.

At least, that’s how I’ve come to see it. While I’ve certainly fallen for my fair share of trends over the years (some more questionable than others), I’ve developed a pretty clear sense of the style principles I return to time and time again. I’ve shared a few of those core tenets below, perhaps you’ll recognize some of your own in the list as well.

Mid-Length Long Sleeve Dresses

Also a personal favorite of Kate Middleton, this style of dress simply never fails me. It’s flattering and understated for almost any event.

Long Sleeve Gowns

Along a similar vein as the last, but even more glamorous. My go-to style for galas and weddings alike. Long-sleeve gowns are simply more flattering and offer comfort with more coverage.

Long Jackets Paired with Big Sunglasses

Jackie O would be proud of this one. I’ve recently rediscovered my love for an oversized sunglasses look. Paired with another favorite, the trench, it’s glam.

Shoulder Pads

Shoulder pads have always been a must for me. Whether built in to my favorite dress, jacket, or even t-shirt, they always make a good look better.

Cropped Jacket and Wide-Leg Pants

This has to be my most worn combination of all time. My closet is full of endless pieces that can be combined to create this look. It exentuates my figure in all of the right places.

Pleated Midi Skirts

Nothing groundbreaking, but it always works. This one is my forever favorite, but there are plenty of good options to choose from.

A Good Pareo

Top of mind since it’s summer, but I live in a good pareo for pool days and tropical vacations alike. Bonus points if you can take it from day to night.

Floral or Embellished Moment

Many of my pieces are classic, but I like to add interest with a floral moment or an embellished piece.
