Ghouly Halloween Ideas

Halloween Traditions and Ghouly Ideas

Over the years, we’ve established a few different Halloween traditions, some which have stuck and some which were precious but I haven’t stuck to. Below, a round up of ideas of years past in case you’re a ghouly ghoul who loves to plan as well as some costumes I’m thinking about for this year. Head to my LTK shop and search Halloween for shoppable posts.

The Halloween Tablescape

Spooky season, but make it pretty… I hope pastel ghouly decor is available forever. Elle’s exact Dorothy costume can be found here.

Precious pieces! Loved this table set up.

Halloween Kids Table

A little afternoon tea during spooky season ended up looking pretty sweet!

Love this balloon-forward decorating idea! All the details can be found here.

Painting Pumpkins

All the pumpkin painting supplies you’ll need can be found here!

Decorating Rooms

Precious Pastels. Blue and Pink ideas here.

And Of Course, Dressing Up…Including, Family Halloween Costumes!

Alice in Wonderland… Jennings was the bunny.

The whole Darling family, Wendy, John, and Michael… and Nana too!

We did the Wizard of Oz as a family Halloween costume when I was pregnant with Jennings for Trick or Treating and then again a couple years later for a pre-Halloween party. It’s a balance as I don’t like the kids to get their costumes dirty before the big night, so we usually rewear an old favorite. See Elle as Glinda The Good Witch here.

Belle’s nose in a book and Phillippe about to gallop off into the sunset! Elle had a blast with this one.

One of my favorite costumes the boys have worn. Max from Where the Wild Things Are!

Outfits here, and bat decor here! We love decorating with pumpkins, stick-on bats and balloons (we don’t typically decorate seasonally in a big way, so this is an easy lift!).

Love this for music class or other themed events when you don’t want a costume. Precious pumpkin bubbles!

Other ideas we’ve done in the past include getting life size cardboard cut outs of Elle’s costumes (when she was an only child, also came in handy for Halloween parties), spiderweb waffle makers and putting all the Halloween books out in the kids rooms. Below, some decor ideas and costume options for you and your minis!
